A. Making our product available in all flavors and packages nationwide is a high priority for us. However, we license the production of our sodas to local bottlers, and they decide which flavors and package sizes to produce in their market based on consumer demand. If a product or package is not available in your area, please do us a favor and call your local bottler and ask them to produce it. If your bottler already produces it, ask your retailer to carry it. If you need help contacting your local bottler, contact us and we will let you know who has the franchise rights for Hawaiian Punch in your area and don't forget to provide us with your zip code. Q. Who is Punchy?
A. Punchy was created in December 1961. He appeared as a cartoon character on television for the first time in February 1962.
Punchy became an instant advertising success and brand identifier for young people. Punchy's was copyrighted in 1964. In addition, Punchy was accompanied by Opie (sometimes referred to as Oaf), who served as the target of the mascot's punch. The Punchy and Opie characters and tagline remained in use through the 1990s.
In 1992, Punchy participated in a presidential promotion campaign as the favored candidate ("No one else has the punch"). While Punchy didn't win the election, his popularity soared among young and old alike. Punchy has been revamped with contemporary fashion and music to appeal to modern consumers. He still has the punch!
Also in February 2003, Punchy received a makeover. The long-time spokesman for Hawaiian Punch was given a more contemporary look that appeals to teens.
